The peaceful area in front of the cave is perfect for a picnic while enjoying a lake view and nature. There are also options to rent paddle boats.

Sikep Community

Visit our friends in the Sikep community of small-scale organic rice farmers, and get to know the unique religion, distinct traditions, and special farming lifestyle which only can be found in Central Java. You can visit with the Sikep people at their school house and village, where you can learn about their traditional lifestyle, hear traditional music, and see traditional dance. It is also possible to buy the organic rice and XY tea that the Sikep community produces. The farmers are currenty struggling with a planned cement factory which would affect their water supply and destroy the environment they depend on.

Sunsets at Seloromo lake

Enjoy the sunset at Seloromo lake. Not far from the village where Petrus grew up there is a reservoir that was built by the Dutch in the colonial era. When picnicking or a taking a walk around the lake, you might see water buffalo and sheep grazing as well as fisherman wading in the lake to tend their traditional wooden fishing traps.

Not far from Peace Place, local farmers have started to breed owls to fght the mice plague. The owl breeding center is also a relaxing place to have a picnic next to rice fields that are far from main traffic arteries.
